Understanding NDIS

NDIS, or National Disability Insurance Scheme, is the system for people with disabilities in Australia to receive assistance with daily living. A national scheme, the NDIS works by offering individualized funding packages to eligible people to help with the costs of accessing various support services.

To be eligible for the NDIS, you generally need to meet three key requirements:

  1. Age: You must be under 65 years old.
  2. Residency: You must live in Australia and be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
  3. Disability or Early Intervention: You must have a permanent and significant disability that impacts your daily life, or you may qualify for early intervention if you’re a child with a developmental delay or disability.

For more information on eligibility or to find out if you qualify for NDIS funding, visit the NDIS website or contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) at 1800 800 110.
